FOTD 7.23.14

7-23-24.3

When the boyfriend goes out of his way to say, “Damn, you look great today.  I think it’s the makeup,” you know you’ve got a keeper.  I pulled out the ol’ Naked palette while I was getting ready for work and I guess I picked a winning combination!  Nine times out of ten my makeup is quite soft and neutral, very work appropriate, and this is no exception.  Of course when I got to work the air conditioning was malfunctioning so the effort to look presentable hardly seemed worth it… it’s quite impossible to exist as anything other than a sweaty mess in the middle of summer in Florida with no A/C.

But I digress.  In the end the A/C was fixed and everyone stopped sticking to their desk chairs.  A happy ending for all!

Face

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Primer (Original)
    • A very light layer through the center of the face and blended outwards.
  • Benefit Watt’s Up!
    • Applied on the high points of the cheekbones and bridge of the nose, after primer and before foundation.
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NW20)
    • Under the eyes.
  • Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick (1 Warm Ivory)
    • Applied directly to the face and blended out with a damp Beauty Blender sponge.
  • Maybelline FIT me! Concealer (15 Fair, 20 Sand)
    • Approximately equal parts of each shade, applied with a synthetic tapered brush to red or dark spots.
  • Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder
    • Very lightly over the entire face, focusing on the T-zone.
  • NARS Bronzing Powder (Laguna)
    • Applied with a fluffy blush brush below the cheekbones, through the temples, forehead, and down the neck.
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Natural Beauty)
    • Using an angled blush brush, pounced into the product once or twice and then most dusted off on my arm. Placed slightly farther back than the apples of the cheeks.  Review here.

Eyes

  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NW20)
    • Across the entire lid space as a primer.
  • Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder
    • Across the lid to set concealer and to blend the edges of they eyeshadow.
  • Naked Palette (Naked, Buck, Toasted)
    • Naked blended through the crease and the outer third of the lid, Buck on the outer V area, Toasted on the lid.
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner (Black Ink)
    • Used to tightline and to line about halfway across the lid.
  • L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly (Blackest Black)
  • Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil (Taupe)

Lips

  • Nothing in the photo!  When I got to work I put on the Maybelline Color Elixir (Caramel Infusion, review here)
